Dr Sowmya Krishnan
Respiratory and Sleep Physician
Dr Sowmya Krishnan graduated from The University of Adelaide and completed her internship at Mount Gambier Hospital. She did her specialist training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at both The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital. Her interest in sleep medicine and non-invasive ventilation led her to pursue a Sleep Fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre alongside the Adelaide Institute of Sleep Health (AISH). She is passionate about teaching medical students and junior doctors. She was the Chief Medical Resident at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is currently a Clinical Lecturer with the University of Adelaide.
Having worked across most major hospitals in South Australia, Sowmya believes one of the biggest privileges of being a physician is meeting and caring for a diverse group of people and optimizing their quality of life. She sees a range of respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease and also all sleep disorders such as snoring, insomnia, sleep apnoea, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, nocturnal hypoventilation and narcolepsy.
Dr Krishnan has admission rights at Ashford, Calvary Adelaide Hospital, Calvary North Adelaide and Burnside Hospital (sleep studies).
