About the Foundation

Would you like to help our hospital – now and into the future? The Burnside War Memorial Hospital Inc is a not-for-profit community hospital with no government funding, and support from the community is a vital part of our success. Burnside Hospital Foundation exists to not only support the hospital now – but to also help to secure the hospital’s future.

Established in 1998, the Foundation’s major aims are to help the hospital by:

• Funding leading-edge medical, surgical and ancillary equipment for quality patient care – items that the hospital really needs;
• Supporting building redevelopment and refurbishment programs to meet the changing needs and expectations of the community, patients, their families and friends; and
• Funding approved patient care services at the hospital, such as funds towards an extra part-time specialty nurse for breast cancer patients.

We work in conjunction with the hospital on a regular basis to identify areas where we can make a difference.

We do this by seeking donations and bequests from private donors, as well as donations, grants and sponsorships from businesses, corporations and philanthropic trusts. We also generate income from fundraising events, and through the sale of items such as Entertainment Books.

Supporters receive regular newsletters to keep them up to date with our activities.

Our Foundation is endorsed by the ATO as a DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient), making all donations fully tax deductible under the Income Tax Assessment Act. It is also a registered charity in SA - CCP 1247; and is registered with the federal charity regulator, the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC).  Receipts are issued for all transactions.
