While volunteers undertake a variety of roles throughout the hospital, they all share the overarching goal of supporting our patients, staff and visitors
Our highly respected team of volunteers at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital play an important role by generously giving their time to support our Hospital staff in enhancing the comfort and well-being of patients and their loved ones.
Volunteering at Burnside Hospital is an opportunity to:
- Give back and be a valued part of our community
- Help people who are often going through difficult times
- Make new friends with other volunteers and staff
- Learn new skills and get some great experience.
Shifts are available Monday to Friday run between 8am to 4pm. Some Saturday shifts are also available.
Volunteers help out in a number of areas at the hospital, including:
Patient services
- Welcome patients and visitors entering the hospital
- Escort patients to their appointment or ward
- Deliver flowers to patients on the wards
- Provide assistance to patients on the ward
Administration assistance
- Preparing patient packs
- Assist with mail outs
- Filing and photocopying
- Support of marketing and fundraising initiatives
Cafe Otto
- Assist with the preparation of coffee and snacks
- Serve customers
