Dr Oscar Brumby-Rendell

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr Brumby-Rendell is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising exclusively in upper limb surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. He manages patient conditions associated with arthritis, trauma and sports injuries. He has a special interest in:

  • Shoulder rotator cuff disease
  • Shoulder joint replacement
  • Shoulder dislocation surgery
  • Keyhole shoulder, elbow and wrist surgery
  • Endoscopic (keyhole) carpal tunnel surgery
  • Tendon preserving base of thumb surgery
  • Fracture (broken bone) treatment

In addition to consulting from several ASULC metropolitan locations, Dr Brumby-Rendell complements his private practice with clinical and academic appointments through the University of Adelaide; the Royal Adelaide Hospital; and the Royal Darwin Hospital. Through these commitments, Dr Brumby-Rendell maintains a high standard of personal and professional fulfilment, and is now training the next generation of medical students and future upper limb surgeons.

Dr Brumby-Rendell trained locally and internationally, including completing a competitive fellowship through the International Bone Research Association. This commitment enabled him to attain advanced sub-specialty skills in keyhole and advanced 3-D computer guided joint replacement surgery.

Dr Brumby-Rendell complemented his fellowship with international microsurgical training (surgery involving a microscope) at the National University Hospital (Singapore).

An important part of Dr Brumby-Rendell’s practice is committed to the development of new methods of diagnosis and treatment, as well as research into improving patient outcomes following surgery. He regularly attends meetings and advanced courses to be at the forefront of orthopaedic surgery development and implant advances. His practice is endorsed by memberships with the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Medical Association, Australian Society of Hand Surgery and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
