Dr Karen Chandler
Obstetrician/Gynaecologist
An Adelaide girl from birth, Dr Karen Chandler graduated from Adelaide University. She trained in Adelaide, Darwin and the United Kingdom and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2004.
Dr Chandler manages both high and low risk obstetrics with all deliveries at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital with the exception of pre-term deliveries which are conducted at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Her gynaecological practice is general in nature with a special interest in menorrhagia, colposcopy and infertility. All gynaecological procedures are performed including endometrial ablations and vaginal prolapse repairs/hysterectomies and in-room Mirena insertions.
On the home from Dr Chandler has three children; Markus, Chloe and Harrison, and is able to run her practice thanks to the full time support of her husband, thereby giving her the flexibility required to manage her obstetric commitments. With three female doctors in the practice, a weekend roster system allows for regular recreation time which is an important part of managing an obstetric career.
