Dr Alexandra Carey

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Alexandra Carey is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist. Her warm and friendly nature puts patients at ease, especially during vulnerable times. She provides comprehensive, personalised continuity of care for women at all phases of their life. Alexandra is a proud South Australian, who has completed all her specialist training in South Australia.  

A key aspect of Alexandra’s care is focusing on your individual journey. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to look after women during the pregnancy care and be involved in the birth of their children. Alexandra can offer deliveries at Mount Barker Hospital, Burnside Hospital and The Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  

From a Gynaecology perspective, Alexandra specialises in laparoscopic (Key- hole) surgery for a range of conditions including ovarian cysts, endometriosis and hysterectomy. She also manages pelvic organ prolapse. She has a particular interest in abnormal cervical screen tests and colposcopy, as well as vulval conditions. Alexandra operates at Mount Barker Hospital, Stirling Hospital and Burnside Hospital.  

Currently, Alexandra is also a specialist at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she enjoys teaching trainees and medical students. She enjoys attending National and International Conferences to ensure that she is up to date with the latest research.   

Being a mother of two, with a close relationship with her sister, mother and grandmother, she relates easily with people of all ages.
