Our Pre Admission Service

A telehealth pre admission call prepares you and our hospital staff for your upcoming surgery, helping you feel reassured and relaxed.

We’ll discuss any questions or concerns you have about your procedure, recovery and any pre-existing conditions. The telehealth pre admission call typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes and covers:

A review of your admission and health history form(s), also available to your surgeon, specialist and/or anaesthetist in preparation for your consultation.
Information about your care before and after surgery.
Discharge planning to help you prepare for your return home and rehabilitation.
Questions you may have about your surgery and your hospital stay.

Pre admission calls help you feel heard, supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way.

They can be initiated by your surgeon, our hospital staff or by you, particularly if there are health history details that will help us with your treatment planning.

Two staff members at a reception desk review documents together, dressed professionally, with artwork displayed on the wooden wall behind.

Pre Admission Anaesthetist Assessment

An anaesthetist may contact you to address any concerns or questions you might have about your upcoming procedure. For obstetric patients, pre admission appointments with anaesthetists can be arranged via a referral from your admitting obstetrician.

An experienced anaesthetist will:

Assess your suitability for surgery, considering potential risks and complications associated with your proposed surgical procedure.
Provide a summary and recommendations to your surgeon and medical care team to ensure the best possible preparation with your safety uppermost in mind.
