Our Consumer Advisory Group
We are deeply committed to delivering the highest quality care, with patient and community feedback playing a crucial role in the provision of continuous improvements to service delivery.
Our Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) consists of patients, caregivers, and community members who help drive meaningful improvements in patient care and provide feedback on their experience at Burnside Hospital.
Members of our Consumer Advisory Group:

- Advocate for patients and families by sharing perspectives that ensure patient and caregiver needs remain at the heart of all our decisions.
- Collaborate with our leadership group and work alongside hospital staff to influence quality enhancements to our healthcare services.
- Help to shape future healthcare services by reviewing new initiatives, communication strategies, and patient education materials.

We welcome people from all walks of life and value diversity. If you're active in the community, have strong local connections, and a good understanding of healthcare issues, we'd love to hear from you.
What does the CAG do?
- Offers valuable advice to the hospital leadership group, ensuring that the views of consumers, carers, and the community are considered in service delivery, planning, and policy development, where applicable.
- Provides input on key priority areas and issues that require consumer and community engagement.
- Represents the community's voice, including addressing the needs of consumers with special requirements.
- Fosters communication and collaboration between consumers, carers, community groups and the hospital.
What are the responsibilities of CAG Members?
- Actively contribute to group discussions.
- Advocate confidentially and represent the interests of the people they are asked to support.
- Bring a consumer, carer, or community perspective to discussions and decision-making processes.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the issues impacting individuals receiving healthcare services.
- Possess interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Maintain positive relationships with fellow members and stakeholders.
Who is eligible to be a CAG member?
Membership is open to consumers, carers, or community members aged 18 years or older, particularly those who have had direct experience with healthcare services at Burnside Hospital.
We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who are active within the community, with strong local networks and a solid understanding of healthcare issues in the area.
Are CAG members paid?
CAG members volunteer their time and do not receive any payment or remuneration for their involvement.
When are CAG meetings held?
