Dr Gloria Sham

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Gloria Sham is an experienced and fully qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, with a range of interest from high-risk pregnancies to abnormal cervical screening tests. Dr Sham’s many years of experience makes her highly equipped to perform abdominal, laparoscopic and vaginal surgeries.

A graduate from The University of Adelaide, Dr Sham is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).

After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Adelaide, Dr Sham gained invaluable experience in various areas of medicine amongst some of the largest teaching hospitals in South Australia and Queensland including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Her exposure to a broad spectrum of medicine early in her career was intrinsic to her subsequent specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Queensland.

Throughout specialist training, Dr Sham developed and refined her skills whilst working in regional and tertiary hospitals in South East Queensland, as well as being mentored by some of the state’s most reputable and experienced specialists. Her tertiary training was completed at Mater Mothers’ Hospital in Brisbane, which is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced maternity service providers, delivering more than 10,000 babies every year.

Prior to her return to Adelaide, Dr Sham was a full-time staff specialist at Ipswich Hospital. In this role, she was actively involved in educating, mentoring and supporting medical students, junior doctors and O&G registrars.

Dr Gloria Sham is delighted to be back home in Adelaide and commencing her very own private Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice located in Attunga House at Burnside War Memorial Hospital.

Dr Sham’s consulting suite is fully equipped with the latest medical advancements, including a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine and “The GRACIE”-a premium Gynaecology examination couch with a high definition digital colposcope.

Dr Sham understands that attending any gynaecological appointment worries most women, however her gentle and caring approach, coupled with her access to state-of-the-art equipment and patient centred ethos will put your mind at ease. If required, Dr Sham can provide patient consultations in Cantonese or Mandarin to ensure effective communication with her patients.
