Dr Beth Russ

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Beth Russ was born and raised in Adelaide and achieved her medical degree from Adelaide University in 1996. After completing her internship and resident years she undertook six years of specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and received her fellowship with RANZCOG in 2006.

Dr Russ has been working in private practice for the past 13 years and is absolutely delighted to be joining Burnside War Memorial Hospital both delivering babies and performing gynaecological surgery and, from mid 2020, consulting on site.

Dr Russ feels incredibly privileged to be able to work with women and develop relationships that span many years.

“One of the most amazing things is that you get to look after women over one, two, three or more pregnancies. I have patients who start seeing me as a gynaecologist in their teens and then see me for the births of their children and again later in life for gynaecological concerns. You become a part of their world at a very important time of their lives – there aren’t many other jobs where you get to do that.”

“My absolute favourite part is delivering a baby and watching mum and dad as they see their baby for the first time. You don’t see that look on peoples faces at any other point in their life.”

Dr Russ manages infertility, all aspects of pregnancy care including patients who are low risk and those with complex medical needs. She also offers comprehensive gynaecological care to women of all ages with an interest in colposcopy (for abnormal smears), menopause and management of heavy periods.

In addition to her private work Dr Russ is a Senior Visiting Medical Specialist at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (WCH) were she does a weekly antenatal clinic and enjoys supervising and teaching the next generation of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists.

The association with WCH allows her to look after her high risk patients, including unexpected preterm deliveries, across both hospitals.

On a personal note Beth met her husband Jeremy when they were both working as junior doctors. Together they have two very loud sons. She loves to travel, read and kickbox. More recently she has also become addicted to 'Suits' on Netflix.
