Wi-Fi calling lets you make and receive calls and texts using a Wi-Fi network instead of your mobile signal. This is especially helpful in places with poor cellular coverage, like hospitals.
Follow the steps below to easily enable Wi-Fi calling on your iOS (iPhone) device while in Burnside Hospital.
Note: The steps to enable Wi-Fi Calling may vary slightly depending on your phone brand. For Samsung, Android 12 or later is required. For Oppo, Android 13 or later is required. For iPhone/iOS, iOS 9 or later is required. As a general guideline, devices from 2017 or newer are typically supported, depending on the brand.
- Open Settings
Tap the Settings app (grey gear icon) on your home screen. - Go to Cellular / Mobile
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling
Look for “Wi Fi Calling” in the menu and open it. - Turn On “Wi Fi Calling on This iPhone”
Flip the switch—when it's green, it's enabled. - All done!
You should now see “Wi‑Fi” next to your carrier’s name in the status bar when Wi‑Fi calling is active.
