End PJ Paralysis

A nurse in blue scrubs warmly engages an older man in a white robe during a consultation, noting details on a clipboard.

Once patients arrive in hospital, they normally stay in their pyjamas or hospital gown until they are discharged.

In 2016 in the UK, Professor Brian Dolan, OBE commenced studies to aid the patients’ journeys. What followed has become a global movement embraced by nurses, therapists and medical colleagues.

Its aim is to value patients’ time and help more people to live the richest, fullest lives possible by reducing immobility, muscle deconditioning, and dependency at the same time as protecting cognitive function, social interaction and dignity.

The goal of our End PJ Paralysis initiative is to get patients up, dressed and moving as soon as it safe to do so. We’d love to see more patients up and in their day clothes.
