Dr Kate Walsh

Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr Kate Walsh is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, mother of three and a passionate advocate for women’s health. 

With a deep understanding of the challenges women face, she is committed to empowering her patients to lead happy, healthy lives. Dr Walsh believes in the importance of informed choices—whether related to pregnancy, heavy periods, pelvic pain management, endometriosis or fertility planning. She is devoted to providing her patients with the guidance, support, and options necessary to make the best decisions for their health.

After completing her specialist training in 2016, Dr Kate Walsh began working in the public sector at Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals, where she balanced patient care with leadership roles such as Head of Unit, AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery) training supervisor, and PROMPT (obstetric emergency) trainer. Additionally, volunteers with Health Volunteers International with regular trips to Namibia. These roles have allowed her to remain at the forefront of best practices and new technologies, particularly in minimally invasive procedures for managing conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, hysterectomies, and in the management of obstetric emergencies. 

In 2023 Kate expanded her private gynaecology practice to include Obstetrics at Burnside Hospital and co-founded East O+G with Dr Ellen Raghoudi and Dr Lodewyk (Ludy) Du Plessis, conveniently located on The Parade. Together, they have built a thriving practice. Kate is well-regarded for her collaborative approach, working closely with families and midwives to ensure that pregnant patients receive holistic, safe care that celebrates their birth choices ( including VBAC) and respects individual preferences. She is also dedicated to supporting all individuals assigned female at birth, as well as modern families, in navigating their health journeys with respect and understanding.

Outside of her medical practice and raising her three children, Kate is a serial home renovator and DIY enthusiast. She enjoys exploring the aisles of Bunnings, dreaming up new projects—though, like many, she occasionally finds time to finish one.
