At Burnside Hospital, your comfort and wellbeing are our top priority. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible care and support, and the information we've provided is tailored to help you and your family prepare for your upcoming admission.

What to do next:

  • Complete your admission form: You have the option to complete your admission form online or submit a paper copy to the hospital.
  • Check your insurance: Get in touch with your private health insurer to understand your cover, including any potential out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Consult your doctor: Have a detailed discussion with your doctor about your planned procedure, expected outcomes, associated risks, alternatives, and post-operative recovery.
  • Rehabilitation and discharge planning: Enquire about any potential rehabilitation or discharge planning requirements after your procedure. Burnside Hospital often accommodates rehabilitation if needed.
  • Fasting and medications: Ensure you have clear instructions from your doctor regarding fasting and any necessary medication adjustments before surgery.
