Dr Hamish Philpott returned to Adelaide in 2017 after almost a decade spent interstate and overseas developing his skills and working as a consultant gastroenterologist in Melbourne and Central Victoria for 6 years, both in private practice and as a visiting specialist at The Alfred, Eastern Health and Bendigo Hospitals. He has completed a PhD at Monash University, been awarded research and clinical fellowships and spent time in North America and The United Kingdom.
Dr Philpott's particular interests include:
- food allergy
- oesophagitis
- motility disorders (including irritable bowel syndrome)
- inflammatory bowel disease
- endoscopy
He is a staff specialist in the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN – Modbury and Lyell McEwin Hospitals) and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide and he has endoscopy lists at Stirling Hospital, Burnside Hospital and North-Eastern Hospital.
"My aim is to provide high quality, empathic and personalised care to patients with gastrointestinal illness, and to use investigations appropriately. I will be supported for administration by the South Australian Group of Specialists (SGIS) (Western Hospital and the Tennyson Centre)"
