Burnside Hospital’s Specialisation Program is an excellent choice to support your progression into the Graduate Diploma in Nursing Science (Perioperative Nursing) at the University of Adelaide. Our program has been specifically designed with the University faculty to build to your specialised perioperative degree following your nursing graduation.
We are the only private hospital to partner with the University on a course tailored for perioperative nursing, allowing you study modules while you’re working, access to workbooks and contact with lecturers.
More info on the degree is available via: adelaide.edu.au/degree-finder
The Burnside Perioperative Service compromises five operating theatres, day surgery facilities and a CSSD. Our strategic directives are future-focused and we acknowledge the fast pace of medical technologies. In collaboration with our surgeons and consumers, Burnside will remain at the forefront of clinical treatments to provide contemporary care for tomorrow’s patients and that makes us a great choice to help shape your future.
Once accepted, you’ll be offered a 12 month paid employment contract which is structured to develop a foundation of skills to support your ongoing career in the perioperative environment.
The Burnside Hospital program covers all perioperative specialist nursing areas across scrub / scout, post-op (recovery), anaesthetics and the short stay procedure unit (day surgery).
We only take small numbers of graduates so we can ensure you have individualised assistance and education both in and outside of the operating theatre. You won’t just be a face in the crowd!
