The Burnside War Memorial Hospital Inc. is a 76 bed not-for-profit private community hospital located in the inner eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It was formed as a result of a philanthropic gift in 1948 to perpetuate the memory and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in War. It has been an acute care hospital with an outstanding reputation for delivering patient care and services to the South Australian community since 1956.
Expression of Interest: Board of Director Membership Opportunity
The Burnside Hospital recognises the benefits of having a diverse Board and is seeking to augment the existing skill base of its current membership to assist the Hospital in meeting its strategic objectives and to support its next period of growth and development.
The Board of Directors role is to:
• Formulate organisational strategy
• Oversee organisational accountability and compliance
• Approve high level organisational policy
• Monitor the overall organisation’s performance
• Ensure effective governance processes are in place
• Participate in Board committees
Applicants will possess excellent strategic and corporate governance skills combined with a strong interest in serving the community. Ideally, they will have qualifications, skills and experience in the areas of corporate and/or commercial law (1 vacancy) and finance, accounting, business and/or health economics (membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or membership as a CPA is a requirement) (1 vacancy).
Desirable qualifications include successful completion of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Course.
The term of appointment is ordinarily three years and our Board members are nominally remunerated for their contribution.
