Burnside Hospital has adopted liberalised visiting hours during the day to ensure that our patients needs in relation to their personal and care requirements are met. Patients are encouraged to discuss their preferred visiting arrangements with family and friends (who should come and when) and confirm these with their nurse on admission. However, treatment times and the need for rest is also an important consideration so it advisable to check with the patient and / or the ward nurse before visiting. Visitors are requested to approach the Ward Nurses Station prior to visiting a patient for the first time and to observe signage on room doors.
Each day between 12.30pm and 2.00pm, we endeavour to promote a "rest
period" for all patients. Visits and telephone calls should
be made outside this time whenever possible.
Our modern Café Otto on the ground floor offers freshly-made coffee,
light meals, snacks, gifts and magazines. Vending machines are located
near the stairs on the ground floor.
Burnside is fortunately located within the beautiful surroundings
of the Attunga Heritage Garden. Our staff are happy to direct you
to the garden to enjoy its tranquility.
In the interests of good health and patient safety, Burnside Hospital
is a "NO SMOKING" facility. Smoking within the hospital
precinct is strictly prohibited except in one designated outdoor
area located on the ground floor.
